Product Description

Banana fruit powder is rich in potassium and Vitamin A. In formulations it has proven to be great for dry skin, and contains no known substance to aggravate or irritate the skin. Some users have used banana fruit extract by itself as a rich, moisturizing facial mask.

The natural blend of minerals, vitamins, and sugars present in bananas are especially noted for their ability to contribute to a healthy diet and provide an energy boost.

A convenient, fun way to provide a natural energy boost and simultaneously take advantage of the nutritional components for which bananas are known: potassium, Vitamins C and B6, and magnesium.

Bananas are free of saturated fats and contain no cholesterol. While many factors affect heart disease and cancer, diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of these diseases.

Potassium plays a beneficial role in the regulation of blood pressure, protecting against atherosclerosis, helping muscles contract properly during exercise, and improving mental alertness. Interestingly, potassium may also counteract salt-induced calcium loss, thereby functioning to keep bones from thinning at a fast rate.

Studies confirm that men who ate diets higher in potassium and magnesium-rich foods (along with cereal fiber), substantially reduced the risk of stroke.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is known to reduce irritability, weakness, and insomnia, as well as balancing hormonal changes in women. It also functions in the prevention of dandruff, eczema, acme, and psoriasis. Pyridoxine is necessary for the normal production of blood cells and antibodies.

Banana powder, because of its high concentration of banana essence, has been found to be a "major source of carbohydrate and calories". While it is generally low as a source of protein, the beneficial ingredients of the powder are still "markedly superior to that of other fruits". The powder has also been found to be useful as a general treatment for dyspepsia (indigestion).

In 1984, scientists from India were able to extract part of the "antiulcer compounds" found in banana powder, which ended up creating a type of powder that was "300 times more active" in preventing ulcers in the stomach. It was later discovered that the banana powder also increased cell growth, which allowed more rapid healing of the area where ulcers had previously occurred.

Can be used as a natural sweetening agent. Some food uses: To make an energy drink, combine 2 tbsp. banana powder to 1 cup soy milk and blend well. Add 2-3 tbsp. to your pancake mix or flour when baking. Stir 1 tbsp. into some peanut butter for flavorful protein spread.

In cosmetic/skin care formulas, the recommended usage rate is 0.5%-1% of the weight of the final product.

Economical spray-dried banana powder is available above listed under "Other."
