This saffron flavored rice takes white rice from plain to exquisite! Flavored with Saffron Powder, which is derived from the dried stigmas of the purple saffron crocus, this rice is sure to make a striking appearance on your menu.
Popular Thailand side dish, where it is often eaten with roast chicken. Saffron rice makes dinner extra special, and is nearly as easy to make as regular rice. You needn't own a rice cooker to make this recipe - it's boiled in a pot on the stove, but tastes very similar to steamed rice.
Directions: Place 1 cup of rice and 1.5 cups of water in a pot with a lid. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand 5 min. Season as desired and fluff with fork before serving. 1 cup dry yields 2.5-3 cups cooked.
Ingredients: White Rice, paprika (100 ASTA), ground turmeric, saffron powder.
