Product Description

The menthol small crystal finds wide usage in the pharma and cosmetic industry. It is used as an element in the production of salves, balms, medicated creams and oils, throat lozenges, toothpaste, mouthwash, chewing gum, foot sprays, pain relief and body cooling products, shampoos, conditioners, shaving creams, oral or throat sprays, compresses and cooling gels. It relieves muscular pain, coughing, congestion, the flu and upper respiratory problems.

Menthol is derived from the plant Mentha arvensis. This perennial herb may grow up to 3 feet in height, and it has long, underground runners by which it is easily propagated.

While Peppermint Essential Oils that have been derived from Mentha piperita plants have a long history, menthol liquid has been a more recent addition based on modern science. The natural process involves de-mentholized Peppermint Oil from which menthol has been removed by crystallization.

Menthol Liquid Essential Oil has been used as a flavoring for centuries, but also has applications in aromatherapy when applied to sore muscles or in combination with other products such as in a pain relief balm. It is often referred to as having a cooling effect.

Menthol is most commonly used for inflammation and irritation. It can be used on the outside of skin to help heal redness and scaring, and also it is ingested for throat and mouth irritation. Furthermore, it is used as an ingredient in perfume, as a pesticide, mouthwash, and within many other bath and beauty products. Lastly it is used as an active ingredient in many topical analgesics to relieve muscle pain.

Benefits of menthol:

Mouth — Menthol is used within lip balm and throat products. It helps reduce inflammation when applied, and soothes sore throat.

Perfume — Menthol is used within perfume as a natural ingredient that helps bring out the scents and flavors of the floral additives.

Skin — Menthol can be applied directly to cuts, scrapes and bruises to reduce inflammation and irritation. It also has a soothing sensation that can assist in the side effects of sunburn and open wounds.

Mental — Many people believe the menthol scent can be used for aromatherapy, as the soothing fragrance can provide relief to stress, anxiety and nervousness.

Breath — Menthol is found within many oral hygiene products like toothpaste, mouth spray, mouthwash and other edible items that assist in preventing bad breath.

Cigarettes — Many cigarettes used menthol to reduce the side effects of smoking, as the menthol will reduce inflammation and irritation.

Application:

Mix with any carrier oil and rub over your chest for stress, nervousness, anxiety and general mood/mental issues. Dilute in a carrier oil and apply directly to open wounds, sunburn, skin irritation and other general redness on the outside of the skin. Inhale aroma for mood/mental issues. Mix into perfume or with other essential oils for fragrance and aromatherapy purposes. Mix into bathwater for calming effects.
