Product Description

Makaibari estate tea
With aromatic bergamot

It's the 2009 Winner of the Soil Association Organic Food Awards.

Earl Grey is named after the second Earl of Grey. We have recreated the original formula using an exclusive blend of biodynamic teas and the natural oil or bergamot, a citrus fruit. The result is an Earl Grey admirably suited to modern tastes: aromatic, smooth and sophisticated but never overpowering.

Aromatic, smooth and sophisticated but never overpowering. We use only the true fine oil from the bergamot fruit to flavor our blend.

The tea is grown at Makaibari, the first biodynamic tea estate in the world, situated 3-4000 ft high up in the Himalayas. The estate is protected on all sides by lush virgin rainforests and is the home and livelihood to a community of 1700 people, a family of panthers and richly diverse wildlife.

Our promise to you. We believe we have some of the finest organic teas in the world. The purity and quality of our teas, and the natural harmony and well being of the estate and its people mean everything to us. Our biodynamic, organic and fairtrade credentials are your guarantee that our teas are produced in the best and fairest ways possible. We hope that they give you as much pleasure and enrich your lives as much as they do ours.

Suggested Use
Enjoy. Allow one level teaspoon of tea per person. Pour on freshly boiled water and infuse for up to 3 minutes. Add milk and sugar to taste if desired. Or, add a slice of lemon and try iced.

Ingredients
Fairtrade black leaf tea, natural oil or bergamot.

All ingredients are biodynamic, demeter and organic.

In keeping with our philosophy, our teas are free from all artificial additives and gmos.

The world has been enjoying tea for more than 5,000 years. But only since 1995 has biodynamic, fair-trade certified tea been available. That year in Hampstead, a famous London hillside village known as a breeding ground for progressive ideas, Hampstead Tea began.
The majority of our tea comes from the Makaibari estate in India’s Darjeeling province. It is the world’s first certified biodynamic estate and the last owner-managed estate in the district. Here, 66% of the acreage is undisturbed rainforest where tea grows in harmony with the area’s natural ecological system.
